Matías Vergara is the leading partner of Carey’s specialized international trade and customs practice.

Matías has advised companies on inspection processes conducted by the National Customs Service, securing favorable outcomes, as well as on the registration and authorization of special customs regimes such as bonded warehouses, private warehouses, and capital goods.

Additionally, Matías has extensive experience representing clients in administrative procedures, litigation, and negotiations before the National Customs Service on issues such as the application of customs duties and fines on imported goods, origin verification procedures, product valuation audits, application of preferential treatment under FTAs, and tariff classification. His practice also focuses on assisting clients in structuring their businesses in Chile in compliance with customs and trade regulations, as well as drafting cross-border purchase agreements.

Matías graduated from Universidad de Chile and holds an LL.M. from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
