Jesse De Bruyn is a senior associate in the Brussels office of Reed Smith LLP.
Jesse assists clients in solving disputes with customs authorities, both during the administrative phase and before the courts (in civil and criminal proceedings).
Before joining Reed Smith, he started his career in 2015 at a tax law firm in Antwerp specialised in tax litigation. There, he focused on proceedings related to customs and excise. Afterwards, he joined an international law firm where he assisted clients on issues regarding customs, excise and global trade in the broadest sense. Jesse had a particular interest in matters with an energy, green taxation or sanctions focus.
From 2019 to 2021, he was also active as a researcher at the University of Antwerp in a project aiming to support the reform and modernisation of customs law in Belgium and Luxembourg in terms of sanctions, penalties and related enforcement measures.
Jesse holds the Certificate for Cassation proceedings in criminal matters, which allows him to represent the interests of clients before the Belgian Court of Cassation.
